Subtitling

To publish a subtitles file to youtube, vimeo, blip or universal subtitles, an exact syntax must be followed. Do not deviate from this. Type your subtitles into a wordpad (micro$oft) or text editor (linux) document.

You must type your subtitles and their timecodes for in and out following the formula below. This is a real example, and you can see the results here:

-- Red Pig Flower paints her emotions --------------------------------------------------------------

1
00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:38,100
I'm Red. Nice to meet you

2
00:00:41,000 --> 00:00:44,10
I started to draw this painting
from 7 o'clock

3
00:00:44,600 --> 00:00:46,400
Around one hour and a half

4
00:00:48,000 --> 00:00:50,000
Why am I doing this?

5
00:00:52,800 --> 00:00:55,400
Because it's a little different
from my normal painting

6
00:00:55,900 --> 00:00:58,200
Normally I paint on canvas

7
00:00:58,600 --> 00:01:00,400
Which is not big enough for me

8
00:01:00,600 --> 00:01:03,400
Because I always needed a really
big space to paint

9
00:01:05,800 --> 00:01:07,950
And they told me I can paint on the floor

10
00:01:08,400 --> 00:01:12,400
Which is a really big space

11
00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:18,000
So I'm just really happy
to draw something on here

12
00:01:19,400 --> 00:01:24,400
And I don't know what's going on here.
Today I just paint by my emotions...

13
00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:31,000
so it could be just one part of
my studio monsters, but not really

14
00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:36,000
I was really excited to paint today

15
00:01:37,400 --> 00:01:41,005
And I couldn't think of anything,
so I just painted

16
00:01:44,400 --> 00:01:48,200
I just express my emotions and everything
That's all...

---

NOTE that most subtitling facilities only allow you to fix times by the whole second, so 00:01:44,400 would better be written as 00:01:44,000

You must save your file as (name).srt

Please ignore any forums which deviate from this code, unless you want an error message from your video host when you try to upload! Proof-read your titles carefully to make sure there is not even a comma out of place, and ensure that the timecodes don't overlap at all.

Enjoy!
